Video Thoughts for Dan
I have worked with loads of wedding videographers over the years, but I have never come across the combination of a person that I enjoy being around that conducts themselves well at weddings and wedding films that I think couples families guests and other people enjoy watching.
It sometimes feels that in the UK, we can find ourselves to a very narrow idea of what a wedding video should be - typically something romantic saccharine suite with some Ed Sheeran bullshit playing in the background.
But over the years I've come across some incredible videos from other countries where the weddings actually look fun people look like they're having a good time and the emphasis is much more on capturing something real rather than projecting the videographers predetermined vision.
I'm totally open-minded about this, although we're living in the age where younger Millennials are now getting married and it's the dying throws of "the performance generation" where how they look and show up on social media still matters.
Whilst I hate the wrongful use of the term editorial, but many photographers and videographers are using this term to sell a very posed very stylised very forced take on weddings that I find folder and have never booked a client that would prefer this style then reality.
I want people to look back on their wedding photos and they not look dated and for them to relieve the emotions of the day, highs, and lows, but it be a true reflection on everyone that was there and the atmosphere that was created.
Inspiration
A few years ago, this guy, Wade Koch, was rocking it, producing some of the best wedding videos around the states.
He was based in Atlanta and has since become a full-time member of staff at Shark pig productions
Have a look at these and let me know what you think of the field vibe edit cuts use of music, et cetera
My thoughts on pricing
Obviously, depending on what the final 'deliverables' will be, but I'm imagining it will be;
60-second fast-cut reel / 2-3 minute 'relive the day' / ceremony & speeches in full
My current photography package for full day photo is £2000
But as booking need a boost, I was looking to discount for offers, promotions, vouchers etc
The target is to get to 2027 and charging a full rate of £1000 (£1500 if bookings come)
So combined photo & video hybrid package would be £3000
So for 2026 to charge £2500 for photo & video hybrid package
(photo £1750 & video £750)
Launch Offer - "Free Video" in full day package - £2000
(photo £1500 & video £500)
Used at wedding fairs, social media promotion, and launch offer
Only for 3-6 weddings, Jan-June 2026, booked before end of 2025
How do you feel about this as a starting place?
