Had an hour in Belle Vue Park, Newport last weekend with FJORDS to update their photos and website. It was a lovely and warm spring afternoon, which maybe isn’t the best for doing band photography in Newport, although we had some fun and got a great set of photos out of it.
There’s a huge difference between photographing people who are in love and people who are in bands. It usually takes a while, and a few fun activities, to get couples to ope up to me, themselves and the camera; whereas with a band (every band I’ve worked with anyway) they arrive in character and they need very little direction or guidance. It’s also always great when a band have a clear idea about their images and how they want to be perceived through their photos. I always meet with bands before we photograph to ensure we understand one another and I can give them everything they want.
