I like weddings with real people.
Luckily I attract real people, with real lives who appreciate the people around them and know how to have a good time.
Deep in a campsite, at Woodland Tipi and Yurt, just outside Ross-on-wye there was an atmosphere brewing. Walking past the yurt villages I saw some people getting ready using mirrors on trees for makeup although most were either on hammocks or in hot tubs.
A humanist ceremony lead by Gig and Ed’s kids carried high emotion and was conducted in front of a visual display of the timeline of their relationship (right up to the positive pregnancy test kit). The bar was right outside the ceremony tent, and it was self pour.
Within a couple of hours Gig and Ed has retreated and changed from their ceremony garb into their more familiar and comfortable hoodies. Who cares what you wear when you can drink champagne in the woods with family and friends.
Gig and Ed were guests at Kelly and Andy’s wedding earlier in the year and that familiarity made me feel like I fitted in as part of the family. Spending the time to regularly look back through photos from weddings like this makes me appreciate how lucky I am 😀
It was only a smile but my heart it went wild
I wasn’t expecting that
Just a delicate kiss, anyone could’ve missed
I wasn’t expecting that
What did I get right to deserve somebody like you?
I wasn’t expecting that
It was only a word, it was almost mis-heard
I wasn’t expecting that
If you’d not took a chance on a little romance
When I wasn’t expecting that
Time doesn’t take long, three kids up and gone
I wasn’t expecting that
Then you closed your eyes, you took my heart by surprise
I wasn’t expecting that!
