Considering yesterday was the 2nd day of April, the weather was surprisingly warm and sunny for Cardiff. A local wedding for me and a venue that I’d never been to before.
Howells School is a private school (girls only until a few years ago) in Llandaff in Cardiff. It’s set in lovely green grounds, with a few blossom trees, and daffodils everywhere. The inside was very hogwarts with wooden panelling, high ceilings, stained class windows and a feeling that you were somewhere special and important.
Sioned and Alex met in Cardiff but now live in London. They brought all of their friends back to Cardiff for their wedding that had two informal themes, music and alcohol.
The ceremony was held in the very grand council chambers at Cardiff City Hall, just a couple of miles from Howells School. This relaxed couple brought together the most wonderful and fun bunch of people to spend the day with. I met some fantastic people and had some interesting, surreal, crazy and informative conversations with nearly all of them.
Alex’s best man did a fantastic job at bringing up the past for not just Alex but also some very embarrassed guests. Alex was extra humiliated with slick books being handed around with ‘drunk pictures’ of Alex throughout his life, in situations where he’d had a little bit too much fun and was well hydrated.
Food was provided by the most friendly and professional caterers Food Street.
The band rocked out an amazing set of covers, from slick smooth grooves to some cheesy 90s indie rock, although the guests loved it and danced to every tune.
Howells school is an amazing alternative venue for a wedding and I’d love the opportunity to photograph there again, especially as it’s just down the road for me.
